What is a general manufacturing drawback?

Congress created what is referred to as a General Drawback for a for a few select product areas. They are as follows:

  1. Products manufactured from imported burlap and other textile material.
  2. Products using component parts imported duty paid, duty free or they maybe substituted with U.S. made components. The components are used to manufacture a product that is ultimately exported or destroyed for purpose of drawback.
  3. Products manufactured from imported flaxseed and subsequently exported or destroyed for purposes of drawback.
  4. Products manufactured from imported fur skins or fur skin articles and subsequently exported or destroyed for purpose of drawback.
  5. Products manufactured from imported orange juice and later exported or destroyed for purpose of drawback.
  6. Products produced from imported petroleum or petroleum derivatives and subsequently exported or destroyed for purpose of drawback.
  7. Products manufactured from imported piece goods which become finished piece goods using processes such as bleaching, mercerizing, dying or printing and which are subsequently exported for purpose of drawback.
  8. Products manufactured from imported raw sugar into refined sugar and syrups and subsequently exported for purpose of drawback.
  9. Products manufactured from imported steel of various grades and specifications within the U.S. and subsequently exported for purpose of drawback.
  10. Products manufactured from imported granulated or liquid sugar of specified sugar solids and subsequently exported for purposes of drawback.
  11. Products manufactured from imported woven piece goods to be finished by bleaching, dying, printing, etc. and subsequently exported for purpose of drawback.
